Carbon Fast 2010

Those who observe the practice of Lent, the 40 days immediately preceding Easter (which is April 3 this year),  may want to include a Carbon Fast.  A carbon fast is the practice of activities to reduce our carbon footprint and keep us focused on living sustainably.

Here’s a useful tool, a Lenten Carbon Fast Calendar produced by the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington Environmental Outreach Committee, with assistance from Greater Washington Interfaith Power and Light, lists 40 carbon fasting actions everyone can consider as a part of your Lenten preparation for the Easter season.

Each of these actions will reduce our production of climate change pollution and help to preserve God’s great gift of Creation.   Download the Carbon Fast Calendar for your congregation or individual use.
